A varied set of contemporary sounds of interest to fans of Japanese animation. Japanese electropop-artist Susumu Hirasawa used Vocaloid Meiko in the theme song of the Paprika anime by Kon Satoshi.

The most novel tracks are the most heavily electronic, and these do not assault the senses at all: 'A Drop Filled with Memories' is a meditative piece with simple oscillating harmonies that gradually produce thickening layers of sound, and the musically related 'Mediational Field' is a peppy piece of pure techno-pop. Nevertheless, even the most grizzled of moviegoers would conclude that it was music for a parade. Such attacks on the senses as do occur are found in pieces with a bigger bass, such as 'Parade' (track 1), which also includes heavily processed vocals. Atsuko Chiba is a genius scientist by day, and a kick-ass dream warrior named Paprika by night. His work on Millenium Actress is equally as moving, and with Paprika he went above and beyond. Susumu Hirasawa is without a doubt one of the most creative composers I have had the pleasure to listen to. 'The Blind Spot in a Corridor' (track 3), 'Welcome to the Circus' (track 4), and 'Lounge' (track 6) sound, aside from the electronic aspect, much like earlier musical depictions of such scenes in cinema.
